Do you want to spend the winter months in the mountains, helping to tutor some of Britain’s up and coming winter sports athletes? Team Evolution is currently recruiting for Maths, English and Science Teachers and Tutors to join our Educational Team for the 2025/26 winter season.
About Us
Based in Radstadt, Austria, the Team Evolution programme is designed for athletes looking to work within a professional structure dedicated to their development, both on and off the slopes. We provide professional alpine race training and educational support for student-athletes looking to achieve both athletic and educational success.
Team Evolution has continuously been the programme of choice for developing some of Britain’s best alpine ski racers, for more than a decade. Throughout this time, athletes on the programme have gone on to achieve countless National titles, competed at the Olympic Games, on the World Cup, World Championships, World Junior Championships and at the Youth Olympic Games. Our trainees have continually achieved great success across the globe, all whilst achieving consistently high educational grades thanks to the support of the Team Evolution educational programme. Alumni have gone on to work in the medical, legal, veterinary and business industries thanks in no small the support they received during their time at the academy.
Job Role
The Team Evolution training base in Austria houses British athletes aged 12 – 21, from mid-November to late-April. In an environment built around hard work and commitment to progress, the educational programme is a key component of the teams continued success, allowing student-athletes to spend extended periods of time away from regular UK education in order to commit to their on-snow training programmes. Each athlete’s UK school sets work remotely, and the Educational Team in Austria are responsible for ensuring each student’s academic work and learning is of the highest possible standard.
The Educational Team are required to manage the student’s workload, understand different curriculum and syllabuses, deliver new academic topics, consolidate student understanding with 1-to-1 tutoring, further knowledge through revision and extension tasks, mark set work, and write academic reports at the end of each training block. Team Evolution tutors are also expected to maximise their surroundings and actively engage student-athletes in the local language and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- To provide a high quality educational programme for student-athletes during the 2025/26 season, beginning mid-November 2025, ending late-April 2026. The job role will typically start in the middle of November and end 1st May.
- To provide a safe and secure learning environment for all student-athletes.
- To deliver educational support to student-athletes, in both their specific subject area and in a variety of associated support subjects, for a minimum of 5-days per week. Days and times will vary due to competition schedules, and additional tuition will be required during evenings and weekends to support student learning.
- To provide private support and tuition for athletes where required, under the guidance of the Schools Liaison and Programme Director.
- Ensure that the athletes are best prepared for learning each day. This includes, but is not exclusive to, planning academic tasks, ensuring electronic devices are charged ahead of school, managing the Educational Planner in advance of study time, and creating the best possible working environment in the classroom.
- To communicate with the Schools Liaison and Head Tutor about athlete workload and progress.
- To communicate with the Programme Director around any behavioural or disciplinary issues.
- Compile school reports for the athletes, parents and UK schools at the end of each training block.
- To plan extracurricular activities to help with the educational and personal development of each athlete. Encourage student athletes to engage with the local language and culture.
- To assist with the running of the day to day educational programme and facilities, including certain responsibilities around the training base, where requested.
- To attend race trips to support student-athlete’s academic studies when travelling away from the Team Evolution base.
- To support the other staff at the Team Evolution training base including, but not limited to, supervising athletes, delivering extracurricular activities, completing airport transfers and helping the pastoral staff with duties such as laying tables, clearing away after meals or supervising room cleans.
- All members of Team Evolution staff will be required to assist with driving, including completing airport pick-ups, during the season. Applicants should have a full, clean driving license.
Remuneration:
- Wages range between £1,200 - £1,400 per month, dependent on qualifications and previous teaching and tutoring experience.
- 5 or 6 month contract, beginning mid-November 2025, ending late-April 2026.
- Shared half board accommodation in resort, throughout the dates stipulated within the contract.
- Transport to Austria at the beginning and end of the season in Team Evolution vehicles.
- A season lift ticket for the “Ski Amade” region.
- Team clothing, to be worn as work uniform.
- Previous experience as a teacher or tutor in Maths, English or Science, or a degree in the chosen subject.
- Teaching qualification is desirable, but not essential if the candidate is deemed to be a good fit within the team environment. NQTs welcome (N.B. this will not count towards your NQT year).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel and Google Drives.
- Enhanced DBS check.
- A completed Child Welfare and Safeguarding Course.
- Valid First Aid training.
- Full, clean driving license.
- Good communication skills, an interest in sports, and a strong team work ethic are essential.
