Your Purpose

As an IT Systems Manager Assistant, your primary purpose is to ensure the smooth and seamless operation of all onboard IT systems, networks, and associated computer/peripheral systems. You will support the IT Systems Manager in troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading systems, while being a proactive part of the team to resolve any technical issues that arise. By ensuring that all technology is functioning optimally, you will help our crew and guests have a seamless and enjoyable experience on board. This position is critical to maintaining the high standards of service and operational efficiency expected on our vessels.

Your Impact

In this role, you will have a direct impact on the operational success of the ship, as the smooth running of all IT systems is essential to daily operations. By providing on-time technical solutions and maintenance, you'll ensure that communication systems, entertainment options, administrative systems, and guest services are continuously supported. Your quick problem-solving ability will enhance guest and crew satisfaction, contributing to the overall success of the cruise experience. Your support in managing onboard systems is vital in upholding our company's commitment to safety, comfort, and cutting-edge technology

Your Journey So Far

1. Relevant Experience: You have practical experience in managing IT systems, either from previous roles onboard cruise ships or from working in a similar high-demand environment. If you've worked on a cruise ship, you understand the specific challenges of ensuring technology runs smoothly at sea, where reliability is critical.
2. Academic Background: You hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or possess equivalent work experience in IT. Your academic background has equipped you with the foundational knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain complex systems in a dynamic setting.
3. Adaptability & Problem-Solving: You thrive in environments that demand quick thinking and problem-solving. You've developed the ability to address technical issues efficiently, often under pressure, and have experience working with diverse systems and software.
4. A Passion for Technology: You have a deep interest in technology and how it can improve operations and enhance the guest experience. Your enthusiasm for IT systems drives you to provide consistent and effective support to ensure that all systems function smoothly.

Your Essentials

To be considered for the IT Systems Manager Assistant position, you will need to meet the following criteria:
1. Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience in IT.
2. Previous onboard experience in a similar role or within the cruise industry is preferred.
3. Proficient in English (written and spoken).
4. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
5. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a dynamic team.
6. Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with different departments and external vendors.
7. A proactive attitude with a passion for technology and customer service.

MSC Cruises has grown exponentially since 2003. In such a short time, we have built a fleet of 22 modern and most environmentally advanced ships!

With our constant expansion, our fleet will grow in capacity with the arrival of seven new ships in three different classes by 2027.
One of our latest ships – MSC World Europa – was delivered in 2022, inaugurating the World Class. It is our largest cruise ship to date, with a capacity of over 6,700 passengers, served by more than 2,000 crew members.

In 2023 we inaugurated the MSC Euribia equipped with the best and latest environmental technology and bestowed with a highly-innovative design.

In 2023 MSC Cruises entered the Luxury segment by launching its first of four Explora Journeys ships.

Recruitment Prospects
With three new mega-ships and four Luxury ships to be built and delivered between 2023 and 2027, the biggest and most important challenge for MSC Cruises is to find, recruit and train a high number of new crew members needed to provide the service, fun and safety that have become hallmarks of MSC Cruises.

This massive project is already well under way. The Human Resources Team is not only working to recruit the best talents but is also visiting our manning agencies and hiring partners around the world to ensure that the right people and facilities are in place to prepare this ‘army’ of new crew members for their life at sea.
